I think this quote means that no matter how small the lie is or if you lie about something small it can become a big problem. so you should always say the truth.for example if you lie about going to school and you didn't end up going you went to ditch with your friends and your parents ask you if you went you said yes and they believe you for a while then they will obviously find out the truth and you will get more in trouble so it is always good to say the truth.
