Initiative
5-10
Initiative is creativity, inventiveness, originality, ingenuity, imagination. Every time you respond in class, every time you choose your own research topic, every time you put together your own interpretation of a piece of literature, you take initiative. And future employers value can-do professionals who come up with new ideas and chart their own course through projects, employees who are self-reliant. Self-reliant people are self-starters who don’t procrastinate on getting the job done. They know what is required to do and do it. They don’t wait to be told many times. Succeeding in high school, college, and in the career world is taking the initiative.

Distance Education: Is a virtual Classroom for You?
Part 3
Challenging Aspects of Distance Education
·        Lack of in-person interaction: Some educators argue that both teacher student and student-student contact are essential to learning. In a distance-learning classroom, you may be able to participate in class discussions online in cha rooms, message boards or web conferences—but it’s not the same as being other student in a classroom.
·        Different levels of quality: many different education programs supply an excellent learning experience, but others may not. Research any program before signing on to make sure it’s rigorous enough. If you are choosing your own program, look into its accreditation before enrolling.
·        The need to self-start: distance education lets you make your own schedule. If you have hard time getting motivated, this might not be the ideal educational setting for you.

Student Success Statement
“A man without a goal is a ship without a rudder”
Thomas Carlyle
This quote means that if you don’t have a goal then you won’t get nowhere in life. And if a ship doesn't have rudder then it won’t be able to get anywhere. So in life you will need to have a goal and accomplish it so you can succeed in life. It is a good choice to have a goal in life so you can feel motivated. And when you have goals you will feel happy because one day you will achieve them. And if you don’t you won’t be happy that you achieve anything.

Student success statement
"In life as in football, you won't go far, unless you know where the goalposts are"
Arnold Glasgow

This quote means if you don't go far in life, then you won't know where your goals are in life and won't achieve no goals. If you don't put your mind to your goal. You won't accomplish it. Like in football if you don't know where the goalposts are you won't win or achieve. So in life you should know what your goals are and try and achieve them.
